Abstract: The liaodong Peninsula is an area with a large amount of hot springs and frequent earthquakes. 41 hot springs with temperature over 20℃ were found by the end of 1984. Their distribution is controlled by many factors, such as the faults, lithologic fealures, geomorphologic elements, etc. The regional seismicity is mainly monitored by the seismic networks, the recorded earthquakes are not coincident with the hot springs in space. It becomes a problem that remains to be solved. However, the uniform distribution may be attributed to the different ways for energy release and the different structural conditions in the different zones. Therefore, the hot springs can not be considered as an indicator for determining the potential seismic sources.
